Customer Challenge

GNC wanted to activate their “Just Ask. We Make It Simple.” campaign through
a national tour that would help activate existing sponsorships and create new ones.
Messaging and interactions needed to reinforce that nutritional supplements
aren’t just for elite athletes and body builders but that weekend athletes and everyday
consumers can benefit. GNC had to feel accessible to the community and introduce
people to their local store staff so that entering a GNC would feel like a familiar experience
rather than an intimidating one.

Our Solution

retailcomm created a mobile and modular GNC store “POD” that could close up to an 8’ cube for transport but expand into a highly visible footprint – complete with DJ booth on top. Custom counters were ideal for sampling and onsite mobile retail sales. Complementary portable assets and interactives allowed flexibility for varied and functional event footprints.

Modular Platform
The product assortment in a GNC store is broad and technical. A brand- authentic traveling Tour Team served as general Ambassadors for the brand, while transporting and operating the assets from setup through teardown. Local GNC staff provided in-depth product expertise and were able to initiate new relationships with potential customers.

From straightforward fitness events and races to lifestyle events like the Bonnaroo Music Fest in Tennessee or the epic Hood-to-Coast Relay in Oregon, unique local sponsorships across the country helped GNC build brand familiarity outside primary niche markets and build relationship-driven, recurring business through community marketing.
